CETNS is one of three Educate Together schools in Galway, and was established in 2005. It has received permanent recognition from the Department of Education, but is still housed in temporary accommodation. It is part of the fastest growing sector in Irish education, providing multi-denominational schooling to a number of nationalities.
The ethos in Claregalway under principal Terri Claffey is based on welcoming, respecting and cherishing children of all ethical and religious traditions, all races, family and social backgrounds. Since September 2005, it has doubled its numbers and pupils can participate in a Students’ Council and Green Committee.
The art auction is central to vital and continuing fundraising efforts, aimed at providing the school with a permanent home. Master of ceremonies will be Shane Fitzgerald Auctioneers, Bohermore, Galway.
There will also be a draw on the day with a variety of prizes from local business sponsors.
Signed copies of Lynda Cookson’s new book ‘Tea ‘n Turps’ will be available for sale on the day. All purchasers of the book will enter a separate draw for a painting by Lynda Cookson and a portion of the book-price will also go towards school-funds.
Viewing will take place from 12 noon on Sunday, 18th April in the Westwood Hotel, Dangan, Upr Newcastle, Galway, with sale starting at 2.30pm – online viewing of a selection of art works is already available at www.cetartauction.blogspot.com.
